Financial planning advice

Before I dive right in to telling you our financial planning advice of the year, I’m going to start off by asking you a question:

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Would it be to take better care of your health? To put away more money? To try harder at school? Whatever advice it is that you wish you were given, the likelihood is that you were probably were. Many of us don’t stick to advice we are told, even if the advice makes perfect sense. And here’s why …

Starting something and committing to something are two very different things. Whether it’s at the gym, in the workplace, or in education, human motivation rides up and down like a roller coaster. So when you don’t have anyone there encouraging you, reminding you of the end goal and pushing you to your limits, it’s very easy to stay in your comfort zone. This comfort zone is where many people settle with their finances.

The biggest mistake people make with their finances is not being proactive enough to change. They might be content with their lifestyle, or hear no immediate alarm bells forcing them to adapt their spending habits. Therefore they remain stagnant in their routine then wonder why they’re still in the same financial position as they were last year.

Everyone can improve their financial position, but there are many things you can’t do or won’t stick to without someone holding you accountable. So with that being said, here is big financial planning advice you need to hear …

Know when you need a financial advisor

Many people think they don’t need a financial advisor, and maybe they don’t. But if you’re in the same financial position as you were 6, 12, 24 months ago, having an expert holding you accountable for your money could be just the thing you need. Whilst you can do some basic financial planning and make small adjustments on your own, a great advisor will find a way to make your goals a reality despite your excuses.

Of course, professional financial advisors do way more than just holding people accountable for their money (if that’s all we did, anyone could do it). Financial advisors help you to identify your goals. They then provide you with the expert guidance and education you need to put the right procedures in place to reach them.

If you want security and confidence with your financial future, and gain peace of mind that you’re on your way to reaching your goals, take our financial planning advice – know when you need an advisor.
